Cosmos has expanded its Asian touring program in 2011 to meet demand from Australian travellers, adding a new seven-day Indian tour to its range of holiday packages.

The new program features 11 tours of between one and three weeks travelling through China, Japan, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bhutan and priced from as little as $96 per day.

Cosmos Marketing Manager Australasia Christian Schweitzer said the enthusiastic consumer response to the coach tour operator’s first Asian this year had prompted the expansion.

“Cosmos’ top value holidays in Asia proved popular with Australian travellers this year and 2011 program sales are already well above the same time last year,” Mr Schweitzer said.

“One of the most popular destinations with Aussie travellers, Asia is also renowned for its hectic pace and bustling cities so travellers have jumped at the chance to travel at a more relaxed pace with Cosmos.”

Offering a week-long exploration of Northern India, the new Golden Triangle trip visits Delhi’s three-domed Jama Masjid mosque, known as Asia’s largest, as well as the elaborate Amber Fort, the abandoned ghost town of Fatehpur Sikri and the majestic Taj Mahal.

The roundtrip from Delhi also includes two nights in Jaipur, an overnight in Agra and daily breakfasts and is priced from $1011* per person twin share.

The 12-day Journey through Japan is the most popular tour with Australians, travelling north from Tokyo to the scenic Bandai Asahi National Park and as far west as Hiroshima before returning to the capital, starting from $3759* per person.

Meanwhile, Cosmos’ 13-day Thailand Experience offers a travellers the chance to spend four days exploring Bangkok before heading north via the Golden Triangle to Chiang Mai.
