With the 2010 Spring Racing Carnival just around the corner, Southbank’s enchanting five-star hotel, The Langham, Melbourne is set to celebrate in style. With many exciting Spring Racing Carnival experiences on offer including a display of Richard Nylon’s vintage and unique hats and fascinators, a one-on-one millinery workshop with Richard, Melbourne Cup and Oak’s Day lunches, and a Hats and High Tea event, The Langham is sure to create a truly memorable racing season for guests.

Amongst an abundance of gorgeous spring floral arrangements, Melbourne’s most talented milliner, Richard Nylon will display his couture hats and fascinators for Melbourne’s Spring Carnival fans and fashion lovers. Richard’s millinery pieces will be on display in the main lobby from October 4 to November 7.

Langham is also offering guests an exclusive opportunity to partake in a hands-on millinery workshop for beginners with Richard Nylon on Friday, October 8. Workshop guests will create a bespoke handmade flower, which they can wear as a clip, brooch or headpiece to this year’s Spring Racing Carnival. Richard will spend one-on-one time with each participant in the three hour session.

After the workshop guests will indulge in a delectable Afternoon Tea created by The Langham’s Executive Chef, Anthony Ross, who will provide them with insider tips on how to pack the perfect Spring Racing picnic.

With these and other enchanting encounters, such as luxurious Melbourne Cup and Oak’s Day Lunches, and the elegant Spring Hats and High Tea, The Langham, Melbourne’s Spring Carnival offerings make the hotel odds-on favourite for luxury this Spring Racing season.

RICHARD NYLON MILLINERY DISPLAY

The Richard Nylon Millinery display will showcase Richard Nylon’s vintage and unique hats and fascinators in the main lobby of the hotel. The display will run from Monday, October 4 to Sunday, November 7.

RICHARD NYLON SPRING MILLINERY WORKSHOP

Held on Friday, October 8, from 12:30pm-3:00pm the Richard Nylon Spring Millinery Workshop includes:

  1. One-on-one assistance from Richard Nylon
  2. All the materials required to create a beautiful flower to be used as a brooch, clip or headband
  3. A goodie bag with everything needed to create another beautiful flower at home. All the equipment, fabrics, buttons, beads and lace needed have been hand chosen by Richard Nylon to ensure that they are of the highest quality and ‘on trend’ with the current season.
  4. Afternoon Tea created by Executive Chef Anthony Ross who will provide advice on how to pack the perfect Spring Racing picnic.

Price: $195 per person. Places are strictly limited so guests are encouraged to book soon to avoid missing out on this exclusive event.

LADIES’ MELBOURNE CUP AND OAKS DAY LUNCHES AT MELBA RESTAURANT

Ladies can celebrate the Spring Racing festivities at The Langham, Melbourne’s Melba Restaurant this Cup Carnival with exclusive ‘Ladies Lunches’ on both Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day.  Guests can join the excitement at Flemington via Melba’s Plasma screens while enjoying the multicultural cuisines of the restaurant’s interactive cooking stations and views of Melbourne’s city skyline.

Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day lunches include:

  1. Lunch in Melba Restaurant – a unique interactive dining experience
  2. Live action from Flemington via Melba’s Plasma screen
  3. A prize for the guest with the most elegant racing headwear

SPRING HATS & HIGH TEA AT ARIA BAR & LOUNGE

In celebration of the Spring Racing Carnival and all things elegant, the chic ARIA Bar & Lounge will host ‘Hats and High Tea’ each weekday from Monday, October 11 to Friday, November 5.

Amongst the hat arrangements, guests are invited to indulge in Aria’s deliciously decadent Tiffin delights. Hot fluffy scones with fresh jam and cream, delicate sweets and classic stands of savouries such as smoked salmon and cucumber finger sandwiches and open-faced sandwiches topped with King Island brie and ham.

Spring Hats and High Tea includes:

  1. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, elegant Tiffin Afternoon Tea
  2. All guests who wear a hat or headpiece to The Langham’s signature Tiffin Afternoon Tea will also receive a complimentary glass of Domain Chandon.
